The Atlantic Archive: UK-US Relations in an Age of Global War 1939-1945 project at the Institute for the Study of the Americas promotes and facilitates research into UK-US relations by creating and sustaining a free online database of digitised British government reports discussing the United States during the Second World War (1939-1945). Primary documents are essential ingredients for enabling researchers to establish a detailed understanding of British opinions towards the US within political, economic and social frames. The government reports include, for example, the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. reports on Franklin D. Roosevelt’s controversial decision to run for president a third time in 1940.
